They banned 4 of my accounts, only one of them I put a ticket for. all 4 got banned in 3 different ban waves. All Restored at the same time. I didn't even do a ticket for 3 of them and they still got unbanned

I'm glad all the innocents are getting their accounts restored! Hopefully when I get home after work mine will be, too. I'm kind of anxious xD

In all honesty if they should only remove bans if you can provide the account creation information.

Name
Address
CD Keys
etc

Innocent and first time offenders being un-banned is great but I don't want to see the scum who hack/steal accounts get those accounts back.

I think maybe they should run a bunch of tests to make sure the ppl they are going to ban are rly doing something wrong and they have 100% proof. an automated system takes nothing in to account other then what its programed to, and if that auto ban system glitches then ppl get ban for no reason, someone or anet thought it would b better to place a "bot" to watch out for bots clearly they were wrong. I also think some kind of we are sry "someone" fuked up package is in order some kind of ingame item or items for the ppl that were wrongly ban!!

That wouldnt really work for everyone though.
Since creating my account, I got married, which changed my name, meaning proof of ID would no longer work since my ID's have my new name on it. I then changed my first name because it was difficult to pronounce for the people in the US, where I moved to from Europe. Which is where the adress comes in. I've changed locations so many times, I have no idea what adress I had when I created the account. Even more so because as a kid, I always had two adresses because of divorced parents.
CD keys are long lost because of the insane amount of times I have had to move, I still have one key, but I have no idea which account it is linked to.

Sadly, when an account is close to 10 years old, a lot of things can have changed from when you gave them info during account creation. Personally I feel like the way theyre unbanning right now works fine. If someone did get their account stolen, and they do have the info to prove its theirs, by all means they should give that account back to the owner. But being unbanned for something you didnt do, only if you can provide information that was valid 10 years ago? Lets just say I'd still be banned, despite not having done anything wrong.

But if they want to be so cheap with the game, shouldn't they just stop paying for Chris Cleary ("Shazbawt") to do "security"? He doesn't seem to be very good at what he's doing.
Heck, Gaile Gray even took the time to respond to some of the inquires in the official GW2 forum. Then Chris Cleary locked the thread 3 hours later. He shut down a thread Gaile Gray was responding to just to keep his banning practices confined to tickets that take months to answer. (If he could edit GWGuru, this thread would have been flushed.)

I would rather have bots and hackers running wild though the game than to deal with this broken mass-banning of innocent accounts every time they want to tweak the code.

And that alone, causes me to pause....

There are no official forums for Guild Wars 1, so there is no community feedback. They don't have an actual Guild Wars 1 support site. If you try to use the Guild Wars 1 support site it will tell you to go to the Guild Wars 2 forums, where they will promptly close any threads regarding Guild Wars 1. (WTF?) You can submit a GW1 ticket, which they admit will have a slower response time than a GW2 ticket, and receive a generic response in one or two months. The entire game has been moved into automated status. There are no updated holiday events. No new armor, weapons, or festive hats will be designed. All planned Guild Wars Beyond storylines have been canceled. It seems like no money is being spent...

...And yet, they can afford to have a "Fraud & Game Security Lead", who can't hold down a job for longer than 3 years, combing over the GW code looking for hackers. Why the funds for this, but none of the other stuff? Drop him and save even more money, the game will run smoother.

LOL. I have my first fanboy . Thank you for flattering my this morning.

I agree, no point is restoring the accounts of the people who deserve the bans. If they just restore everyone, than everything is just going to go back to the way things were before the bans. Hello high prices in 2k15.

So can anyone verify being un-banned who never sent in a ticket ? I think we all have some friends who gave up hope and never bothered to send a ticket that might be delighted with some good news.

People getting de-banned were banned 2 days ago or is there more similar cases as BadOwnZu who had been banned from first wave till now ?

Half my acc's have been unbanned. Maybe the rest soon not sure? Give them time to go through them all seeing there were so many. I did put in a ticket but many acc's that DID NOT put in a ticket have been unbanned also.

Good news for the innocents.

Has anybody who knows they did bad things been unbanned? I wonder if they're just hitting the undo button for every ban following the shambles of how it was done.....

I never reported anything, I just kinda gave up thinking it's maybe a queue to stop playing GW. I would never have known if it wasn't for Cosyfiep.

I do know of people who botted heavily and have gotten unbanned. Seems to be a mix of innocents and guilty people getting unbanned

so I am back on all of my accounts---had only put in the support ticket on the main (as I couldnt remember the info I used for the others after 8 years, and a sh*t load of other [email protected] having gone on in my life since then.)

I am in agreement on the ignorant way this was carried out (yes by the kid--and I am waaay old enough to be his mother--if I were his mom he would be grounded for life and if I were his boss--he would have found a nice pink sheet of paper in his mail and that his access card deactivated)
and the poor communication skills of the CS team as well as the amount of time it took to take care of this---my anger is very long lived (ask my hubby).
Yes, we got our accounts back, but they never should have been banned in the first place, and the relationship with this company has been permanently tarnished. (and yeah, I never fly by untied airlines after what they did to me---25 years ago)

glad you are back bristle
